To clarify, first and foremost Liposculpture is different from Liposuction. No big difference though but Liposculpture is typically the specific version of liposuction. This means that Liposculpture uses a more defined techniques to remove excess body fats. Historically, Liposculpture was first performed by Dr. Giorgio Fischer in the year 1974. Later on, the method was known to be developed by Dr. Gustavo Leibaschoff.
During the procedure, Liposculpture typically uses a localized anesthesia (anesthetic agent is injected in a regional or specific area) therefore recovery is faster compared to Liposuction which usually uses a generalized anesthesia (anesthetic agent can be injected or inhaled, the entire body is asleep and numb from head to toe).
Moreover, Liposculpture uses a less invasive procedure. Compared to Liposuction, it uses sound waves that produce vibration or vibrasound which then helps to weaken fat cells, thus draining and removing of fats are more efficient and effective. Conversely, Liposuction is done by making 3-4 millimeter incision in the skin. After that, a thin tube or cannula is connected to a vacuum pump which then inserted using a "to-and-fro motion" (for easy fat removal).
Usually, a Liposculpture procedure takes about 1 to 4 hours, though it really depends on the area of focus. Liposuction, on the other hand takes about an average of 2 hours depending on the amount of fats to be removed and the number of areas to be treated.
People under 40 years of age usually present better results for both procedures because their skin is tighter. Nevertheless, the condition of the skin remains the best factor, despite of age.
Below are Surgeon's Fees as an approximation:
* Liposculpture - 1 area or 2 hours $ 5,000
* Liposculpture - 2 areas or 3 hours $ 8,000
* Liposculpture - 3 areas or 4 hours $ 11,000
* Liposculpture - 4 areas or 5 hours $ 14,000
Note: Fees may vary according surgeon or institution.
